Social Housing Advocacy and Support Program

Aim

The Social Housing Advocacy and Support Program (SHASP) ends and prevents homelessness by supporting social housing tenants to establish and sustain successful tenancies; intervening when tenancies are at risk; helping with urgent transfer applications; and adovocating with landlords regarding tenancy issues.

Social housing includes public and community owned or managed accommodation and housing.

  • Have unmet support needs that puts their tenancy at risk of failure

Intervention assistance eligibility

People who:

  • Are current social housing tenants
  • Have a tenancy at risk of breakdown due to a current or pending breach

Tenancy advocacy assistance eligibility

People who:

  • are current social housing tenants
  • are unable to advocate on their own behalf on matters that have been raised with their landlord and not yet resolved
  • have unmet support needs arising from financial, physical health, mental health, disability, violence, language or literacy issues

Early Housing transfers assistance eligibility
